You can now come by our Garberville Office for Notary Public services!

Please reach out to notary@oxaliscalifornia.com or call 707-923-3753 (select option 3) to schedule your notary appointment.

Services:

Oxalis can notarize your signature on any number of documents. We can do jurats or acknowledgements. Remember: the person signing has to physically appear and we are only notarizing signatures (not verifying the validity of documents).

Our fees are:
$15 per signature for Acknowledgments
$15 for Oaths/Affirmations
$15 for Jurats
$0 for voting material

Active Oxalis clients have the option for one free notarization per year (as long as they're in good standing).

What do I need to bring with me for a notarization?

The person whose signature is being notarized needs to:

  1. appear in person before the Notary Public

  2. bring their current, unexpired valid ID (examples below)

  3. all the pages of the document the person is signing

Valid IDs that can be accepted (as long as they're current or issued within 5 years):

  • ID card or Driver's License issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles

  • USA Passport or passport card

  • The following IDs are acceptable if they contain a photograph, physical description, signature, & identifying number:

    • Passport from another country

    • Canadian or Mexican driver's license

    • Driver's License from another US State

    • US Military ID Card

    • Employee ID card issued by an agency or office of the State of California

    • Employee ID card issued by an agency or office of a city, county, or city & county in California

    • ID card from a federally recognized tribal government

What if I don't have ID?

If you're unable to locate your ID, you'll need to bring two credible witnesses with you that both have one of the accepted IDs listed above. Both witnesses will have to swear or affirm under oath and under penalty of perjury that:

  1. the individual appearing before the notary public as the signer of the document is the person named in the document;

  2. the credible witness personally knows the signer;

  3. the credible witness reasonably believes that the circumstances of the signer are such that it would be very difficult or impossible for the signer to obtain another form of identification;

  4. the signer does not possess any of the identification documents authorized by law to establish the signer's identity; and

  5. the credible witness does not have a financial interest and is not named in the document signed

And they must both also sign the notary journal.
